Viñales Valley

The Viñales Valley, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since November 1999, is a major eco-tourism destination with an outstanding landscape, and preserved rich vernacular traditions in its architecture, its crafts, its music and its cuisine. Tobacco and other crops are cultivated on the bottom of the valley, mostly by traditional agriculture techniques. Main attractions are nearby and include museums, botanical gardens, ecological hiking, climbing, and several typical restaurants. Outstanding tours: tobacco plantations, Palenque de los Cimarrones (a Maroon village), caves and the Prehistoric Mural.
